Slipway Loft

“Hello!”

Welcome to Slipway Loft, Falmouth, and Cornwall, the fantastic south-west corner of the UK!

We thought we would do something slightly different and provide our guests (and potential future guests) with a more personal guide to Falmouth, it’s surroundings, and the wider area of South and West Cornwall focusing on the places we like to visit and the things we like to do.

If you are reading this whilst sitting in Slipway Loft, then first of all thanks for staying with us; if you are thinking of visiting Cornwall and would like to stay in Slipway Loft then there are several links throughout this website to our page on Aspects Holidays. In either case we hope the information provided is useful to you in planning what to do and where to visit during your visit to the beautiful tip of South West England.

Slipway Loft is located in the heart of the Falmouth waterfront within the Maritime Museum complex around Event Square. Falmouth is a lovely bustling town with a strong maritime tradition both in the past and today, it also hosts two Universities (Falmouth and Exeter Penryn Campus) with an active vibrant student population.

In the summer the town is a popular destination for tourism with its local beaches, the Coast Path, and great access to the rest of South and West Cornwall. We often joke that everywhere else is an hour by car from Slipway Loft. Falmouth is also the hub of a great Train, Bus and Ferry network that reaches all parts of South and West Cornwall all starting a few minutes walk from Slipway Loft.

Falmouth has plenty of thriving bars and restaurants open year round; it even has a couple of nightclubs! The Town also hosts multiple festivals each year, details of which are on the Special Events page of this site, Sea Shanty, Falmouth Classics, and Falmouth Week are personal favourites.

If you prefer things a bit quieter and more on the wild side then Slipway Loft is ideally situated to get to the South West Coast Path out to Pendennis Head, the local beaches and beyond. A car, bus, train or ferry will take you easily to the Helford River, Lizard Peninsula, the far tip of Cornwall from Penzance to the Tin Coast and St Ives, or up the North Coast as far as Bedruthan Steps.

At all these locations there are beautiful views and if you are active stunning walks fo various durations, our favourites are detailed on the Walks page of this site.

We love it here, we hope you do too!

Part of the appeal and charm of Falmouth and the South and West of Cornwall is that it is away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, but, interesting things do happen at Slipway Loft and the wider area, and when these do we will pop a short article below for interest.

Barefoot Ventures Comes to Stay

Slipway Loft recently hosted its first ‘influencer’ in the form of Char from Barefoot Ventures who visited for a few nights in late March. She posted a few items on her story, which of course we grabbed and have popped a couple of them to the right here; she also wrote a longer piece on her Instagram site which you can have a look at below or click the image to go to her site.

From the sounds of it Char enjoyed her stay in Slipway Loft and Falmouth, and we were very happy to host her.
